About
Chef Andrés Gómez has been passionate about food for as long as he can remember. From a very young age, while his mother worked long hours, he stayed home cooking for himself and his sisters. He spent countless hours watching cooking shows, fascinated by the artistry, discipline, and emotion behind food. His family always told him he belonged in the kitchen — and they were right.
After moving to the United States, Chef Andrés began working in restaurants, learning quickly and refining his craft. Through dedication, discipline, and natural creativity, he developed a culinary style that blends Colombian authenticity with refined steakhouse techniques. Menu creation became one of his greatest passions, and every dish at Capricho reflects the flavors, memories, and traditions he has carried with him since childhood.
From the very beginning, Chef Andrés had one dream: to open his own restaurant. That dream eventually became a shared capricho.
Vanessa Dorta de Gómez met Chef Andrés while working together in a steakhouse. From that moment on, they envisioned creating a space that felt truly their own — elegant, welcoming, and deeply rooted in their cultures. Capricho represents that vision brought to life: a Colombian steakhouse defined by identity, elevated flavors, and genuine hospitality.
Vanessa, Venezuelan by heritage, leads the front of the house and proudly incorporates elements of her culture, including a curated selection of Venezuelan rums. Chef Andrés, originally from Medellín, Colombia, brings the soul of the kitchen and the creativity behind every plate.
Together, they turned a lifelong dream into a shared reality: Capricho Colombian Steakhouse.
